We thought you might like to see some of the behind-the-scenes snaps taken at a recent event we held with HTC for the launch of their new HTC One phone, which is a pretty nice design. By the end of the day we were all totally sold on it, there were even a couple of super fans… not mentioning any names.

Lovely bloggers Abi from Abimarvel, Danielle from Fashionista Barbie, Emily from Styloko and Kate from i am not a celebrity were invited to our London workshops to take part in a Stephen Einhorn jewellery making masterclass. Their challenge was to design and make an aluminium ring, (the back on the new HTC One phone is made of aluminium – you see the link now?) with a little help from Stephen and our jewellers.

Abi, Danielle, Emily and Kate were given a crash course in the art of jewellery making and design, and after a few tantrums and tears (bloggers are such divas… Only joking, the ladies were a total pleasure and the whole day was really wonderful) they were helped in realising a final wax version of their ring designs, which we later cast in aluminium.

It was the first event we’ve held in our London jewellery workshop since we had our re-vamp and everyone loved our new green floor. Stephen and our jewellers were kind and patient teachers and our guests were a joy to work with. It was a busy day but as the saying goes ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ so we made sure we had a few breaks here and there. Mid-morning we had tea and pastries, at lunch we tucked into delicious pizzas and at the end of the day we toasted their finished ring designs with a glass or two of bubbly. We like to do things properly here at Einhorn Towers!

I have walked past this place a million times and never noticed it, so it was a nice surprise to find myself invited inside by the ‘Ladies who take Afternoon Tea’ for another slap up tea last Saturday.

Dean Street Town House is in….yes, Dean Street Soho. It’s very lovely on the inside, all wood and brass and the waiters and waitresses look very french in their long white aprons. It was incredibly busy as you would imagine on a Saturday afternoon. We were flanked by two large hen parties and as my fellow tea sipper said, ‘they are making so much noise how dare they have such a good time’. At first it was hard to hear, but that is either because we are all going deaf (probably) or the people next door to us were shrieking (possibly). The noise died down however and then we were able to have a heated discussion about child abuse, so then we were the ones making all the noise, in your face hen parties! Ha!

The tea itself was good. We always think there isn’t going to be enough food, but once you start eating it’s always hard to finish. The little macaroons with cream were amazing, the scones were good, I was too full for the cakes, and the sandwhiches were gobbled up very quickly. Personally I would prefer more savory treats than sweet. It’s pretty good value if you don’t have alcohol (I’m afraid that would be intolerable to us!) We all agreed that we would like miniature quiches or something instead of so many cakes.

It was a good tea though and the company is always very amenable and interesting. This tea club is an absolute pleasure and I’m really looking forward to the next one. If you do go to Dean Street Townhouse, beware of the leaking tea pots. That was the one down side as there was boiling water splurging out of them every time we tried to pour a cup of tea. The table cloth ended up being absolutely soaked! It’s a lovely place and apparently they do a good cocktail so next time….

Don’t worry Bee happy! Ha ha get it, Bee happy… The old ones are the best. Well I make myself laugh anyway, plus it’s a pretty good philosophy!

Our bumblebee charm is handmade in our London jewellery workshops and can be made in a variety of solid precious metal options including yellow gold (he looks great in yellow gold, as bees are yellow, you know. Did you know that? Surely you knew that. It’s true!), unusual rose gold, sultry white gold, sassy silver and really rather fabulous platinum. This charm is the bees’ knees and can also be added to any of our charm necklaces or charm bracelets.

During ‘Peace, Hellfire & Tits’ (named after some of his limited edition prints) Seb Lester described his life in letters from his early student work to corporate type design, recent projects and his passion for the calligraphy craft form.

In such a technology driven world, it was refreshing to hear someone talk with such enthusiasm about a traditional art form such as calligraphy which Seb has taught himself through experimentation, historical research and a good old fashion love for something. His belief that ‘you need a knowledge of your craft to be a successful designer today’ has obviously driven him in the right direction… in just one week his new calligraphy font film received 830,000 views which speaks volumes for people’s love of this skill.

Seb Lester’s personal projects are a fantastic combination of his colourful language and humour and the beauty of calligraphy. First glance you expect them to say the gushy stuff calligraphy is stereotypically used for, but on the second take you notice the humour – his way of ‘breaking bad news gently with calligraphy’… always something to put a smile on your face.

We’d like to wish the beautiful, blooming mother-to-be Jemi the best with your pregnancy – we can’t wait to see the little one! And Tushar, good luck with your new chapter – it’s been a total pleasure working with you, you’re a lovely man, very talented artist and you don’t half make a good cup of tea!
