An Evening with The Libertines

Stephen Einhorn Team At Libertines

Last night a few of us headed to Kentish Town to see The Libertines. It was absolutely peeing it down but as soon as we entered the venue you could feel the electric energy in the air. Expectations were high, it was their first official come back gig since splitting up 6 years ago, but there was also a nervous tension. Were they going to be great? (Good just wouldn’t cut the mustard) or was it going to be a shambles. With the unpredictable nature of the band and their widely publicised extra curricular activities you never know what you’re going to get.

They entered to Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’ (sounds a bit cheesy I know but it just worked) and then pounded through great song after great song – the packed venue was reeling. It was a perfect, highly spirited performance, just one of those gigs where everything comes together. Can they keep on track this time round? Probably not, but we’re still buzzing!
