Jukebox Friday – Ebben? N’andro Lontana, Alfredo Catalani

This is the aria called La Wally by Alfredo Catalani, Wa? I hear you say…An aria for a gherkin? I know crazy isn’t it? It was used in the Luc Besson film Diva made in 1981 and is one lovely piece of music. The opera was actually called La Wally and the aria is called Ebben? N’andro lontana. What does that mean? Roughly translated this means’ Well? I will go away’. Catalani had a sense of humour, I’m going to write my own aria called…So? I am leaving… Anyway enjoy the music!
