The wedding ring we sold most: 9mm wide with a hammered surface that hides the scratches of everyday wear and catches the light as it moves. Because it is wide, it fits tighter than a slim ring in the same size, so we measure it on a wide sizer.

How wide should a wedding ring be?
There is no right width, only the one that suits your hand and sits well with the engagement ring. Try a few on and you will know. Women's bands we make are mostly 2 to 4mm and men's 5 to 9mm. The wider the band, the tighter it fits in the same size, and the more metal it uses, so width also moves the price.

With your engagement ring
A wedding band shaped to fit your engagement ring
If the engagement ring has a raised or wide setting, a straight band can leave a gap between the two. We make wedding bands shaped to sit flush against an engagement ring, including rings made by other jewellers: bring it in and we will design the band around it, so the two sit together as one. They do not have to be the same metal, but the same metal wears at the same rate.
Which metal for a wedding ring?
Start with the engagement ring's metal, if there is one, then colour, weight, wear and budget. Cool silver or warm gold? Every precious metal ring we make is hallmarked.
Silver
Sterling silver is what most of our online wedding ring customers choose. It is softer than gold or platinum and tarnishes slowly with wear, then polishes back to a bright shine.
9ct or 18ct gold
9ct is 37.5% gold, 18ct 75%. 18ct has the richer, warmer colour and costs more. Both come in yellow, white and rose.
Platinum or white gold?
Platinum is the hardest and heaviest precious metal we use, stays white and does not tarnish. White gold is lighter and costs less.

Engraved wedding rings
Almost every wedding ring we make can be engraved by hand inside the band: the date, your initials, a line only the two of you will understand, hidden against the skin. We engrave in our own workshop. Engraved rings cannot be returned, so if you are unsure of the size, order it plain and have it engraved once it fits.
Wedding ring size
When a wedding ring needs changing, the reason is almost always size, and the usual cause is width. Four things worth knowing before you order.
Measure on a ring of the same width
We measure a wide band on a wide sizer and a fine band on a fine one. If you measure at home, use a ring of a similar width to the one you are buying, at the end of the day, when fingers are largest.
Ring size guideDoes ring width change the size?
Yes. A wide band fits tighter than a narrow one in the same size. If you are buying a wide ring and measured with a thin one, come in and try the width, or call us before you order. If you need a size outside the range shown on a ring's page, call us.

How much should a wedding ring cost?
As much as you are comfortable with; there is no rule. Our plain bands start at about £285 in silver, gold and platinum bands cost more depending on the width, and bands set with diamonds start at about £2,140. Prices for each metal are on each ring's page.
Do wedding rings have to match?
No. Most couples choose different rings. If you want a link between them, choose one design in two widths, or the same metal - a quiet echo of each other.
Which hand is a wedding ring worn on in the UK?
The fourth finger of the left hand, usually with the engagement ring outside it. Some people wear it on the right hand; there is no rule, so wear it where it feels right.
How wide should a wedding ring be?
Whatever suits the hand. Women's bands we make are mostly 2 to 4mm and men's 5 to 9mm. A fine band of 2 to 3mm sits flush beside most engagement rings; a wider one says a little more.
