Inspiration & Technique

‘To achieve the look of this unique piece we played around with form and enamelling. The final Ghost design is made by using a sculpted ring or pendant with a 3D skull which rises from the surface of the piece. We then slowly cover the skull in layer after layer of enamel, painting it on my hand until the skull is covered in smooth inky colour. Once that is done we polish the enamel to a high shine. The effect is mesmerising, as the colour catches the light, and the skull appears to hover under the surface, slowly emerging from the murky depths.’

‘I’m interested in how we look at things, what we notice, what we miss… I wanted to design a skull ring which was subtle, a bit of an illusion, something you can wear if you dress conventionally and just want to provide a hint of your own unique style. With these rings you have to look a bit closer, at what lies beneath the surface.’
