Anniversary Jewellery Gifts
Every anniversary has a material, and we make jewellery in most of them: paper turns into a line engraved by hand, leather and wood into bracelets and rings with real Thames timber in them, then silver at twenty-five, pearl at thirty, ruby at forty, gold at fifty and diamond at sixty. These are our anniversary jewellery gifts by year, for your wife, your husband, your parents or the two of you, made in our London workshop and engraved with the date if you'd like. Pick the year, and we'll show you the pieces that fit it.
1st, 3rd and 5th anniversary jewellery: paper, leather and wood
The early years are the ones with a material nobody expects to wear. We make all three.
The first anniversary is paper, so give the words: a disc engraved with the date on one side and a line on the other, or an ID bracelet with the date along the plate.

Leather is the third, and ours is woven leather with solid silver: a bracelet that adjusts to any wrist, or a cross on a cord.

Wood is the fifth. Ours is ancient timber from the Thames, set between two bands of gold or silver, in rings and necklaces we can put a diamond into.

The decade markers are where the traditional list and the modern list disagree. We follow whichever one is jewellery.
Tin on the traditional list, diamond jewellery on the modern one, which is why the tenth is the anniversary an eternity ring is usually given. Ours are slim enough to sit against a wedding band.

Crystal means clear stones: a diamond stud, a white sapphire in a signet, a line of light in a ring.

China traditionally, platinum on the modern list. Most of what we make comes in platinum: a slim band, a signet, a single stud.
See all 54 platinum pieces →25th, 30th and 40th anniversary jewellery: silver, pearl and ruby
Twenty-five, thirty and forty are the anniversaries the whole family marks, and the ones people search for gifts for their parents. Silver is what we make.
The silver anniversary is the one people search for most, and it's our workshop: solid sterling silver, hallmarked, made here. A bangle engraved inside with the date, a pair of rings, a chain with weight.

Thirty is pearl. Real freshwater pearls on solid silver or gold, from a single strand to three, and studs for every day.

Ruby is the fortieth. Set into a signet, a charm or a stud, or deep red enamel inlaid by hand in a ring.

Sapphire, gold and diamond: the anniversaries that get a party, and a gift chosen by everyone together.
Blue sapphire for forty-five, set into a signet, a charm or a stud on request.

The golden anniversary. Everything we make comes in 9 or 18 carat gold; these are the ones that look best in it, and the ones bought for parents.

Anniversary rings and eternity rings
An anniversary ring is any ring given to mark the year; an eternity ring is the one with stones all the way round, traditionally given on the first or tenth anniversary or when a child is born. Ours are made to sit against a wedding band: slim, in the same metal, with the date inside.
The one we'd choose
Diamond Eternity Extra Slim Ring
The slimmest eternity ring we make: a single line of diamonds on a band fine enough to disappear against a wedding ring, in platinum or gold. It's the ring people find us for when they search for a thin eternity ring, and the one we'd give on a tenth anniversary.

Engraving
Engraved with the date
The date, your initials, the place, a line only the two of you understand: engraved by hand in our workshop, hidden inside a ring or bangle, on the back of a disc, along the plate of a bracelet. From (£X, confirm) a letter. Engraved pieces can't be returned, so if you're unsure of the size, order it plain and we'll engrave it together afterwards.

The giving
Seal it inside a heart they have to break
We wrap the piece in soft cloth and seal it inside a plaster heart, hand painted in the colour you choose. To reach what's inside, they have to crack it open. (Price, confirm.)
If it isn't right, we'll fix it
Size is the reason people hesitate to buy jewellery for someone else. Don't. Make your best guess. Here's what happens if it isn't right.
Wrong size
Return the ring unworn, in its packaging with the receipt, within 14 days and we'll exchange it for the right size. (Confirm: free, or customer pays return postage.)
Wrong piece
Return it within 14 days of delivery, unworn and in its original packaging, for an exchange, credit note or refund. Engraved and bespoke pieces can't come back, so if you're unsure, gift it plain and we'll engrave it togettheir afterwards.

Anniversary questions
What is the traditional anniversary gift for each year?
In the UK: paper for the 1st, cotton 2nd, leather 3rd, linen 4th, wood 5th, sugar 6th, wool 7th, salt 8th, copper 9th, tin 10th, steel 11th, silk 12th, lace 13th, ivory 14th, crystal 15th, china 20th, silver 25th, pearl 30th, coral 35th, ruby 40th, sapphire 45th, gold 50th, emerald 55th, diamond 60th, platinum 70th. The modern list swaps a few (diamond jewellery at 10, platinum at 20), and jewellers follow whichever one is jewellery.
What jewellery do you give for a 25th anniversary?
Silver: it's the one anniversary whose material is exactly what we make. A solid silver bangle engraved inside with the date, a pair of matching rings for the two of them, a chain with real weight. Everything on this site in sterling silver is made in our London workshop and hallmarked.
What is an anniversary ring, and how is it different from an eternity ring?
An anniversary ring is any ring given to mark a year together: a plain band, a signet, a stone. An eternity ring is a specific kind, with stones set all the way round (full) or across the top (half), traditionally given on the first or tenth anniversary or when a first child is born. A half eternity ring can be resized; a full one can't.
When do you give an eternity ring?
There's no rule. The traditional moments are the first anniversary, the tenth, the birth of a first child, and the big ones (twenty-fifth, fortieth, sixtieth). Most of ours are given on the tenth, and a good number as a second wedding ring.
Which hand and finger is an anniversary ring worn on?
Usually the left ring finger, above the wedding band and below the engagement ring, which is why we make ours slim. Plenty of people wear it alone on the right hand. Tell us the finger and we'll size for it.
What do you get parents for a silver, ruby or golden anniversary?
Something for both of them: a pair of rings in the same design, one in each size, engraved inside with the date; or a bangle for her and a bracelet for him in the year's metal. One order note in our books reads "one for mum, one for dad, presents for 25th wedding anniversary": that is the gift.
What should I engrave on an anniversary ring?
The wedding date is the classic. After that: both sets of initials, the place, the coordinates, the number of years, or a line from the vows or the first dance. Inside a ring or bangle holds about (X, confirm) characters; a disc takes a sentence on each side.
Will it arrive in time for our anniversary?
